Fall 2011
Well, we survived Hurricane Irene. She did do a little remodeling, no more dock or recreation room. But we are cleaned up and welcoming guests!!
We also lost our beloved Sandy (yellow lab) this summer whom was our official greeter. Our guests are still bringing treats for him. But they won’t go to waste as we have a new welcoming committee, Taffy.
She is a shelter dog, of course, and is taking her new job of welcoming committee seriously. She is wonderful!
This is actually our most favorite time of year. The weather is warm in the day and cool at night. It’s perfect with the windows open and the fresh air blowing through the cottages. The river and ocean (only 45 min. away) are warm and inviting. Also visit our Farmer’s Market in New Bern on Saturday mornings for great produce and local meats, seafood, and cheeses.
We’ve taken out quite a few motorboat charters in and around the river and creeks showing off a different side of New Bern from the water. Our guests have loved it! Kids love the water and the sandy shoreline, and have been playing in the water and on the beach all summer, lots of shark tooth hunting and sand castles!! We’ve had a lot of dolphin up in the river this Summer. They are so much fun to watch. Honestly there is always something in the river to watch, dolphin, jumping mullet, otters, beaver, turtles, pelicans, ducks, geese, it never gets dull! Look forward to seeing you! Missy
